Invasive Species Removal
Goats are best known to remove invasive species such as buck thorn along with noxious weeds such as poison ivy. They are known eaters (up to six feet in height) and their specialty digestive systems are designed so seeds cannot grow back.
In addition to invasive species and noxious weed removal, goats also help prevent the spread of wildfires by reducing wildfire fuels without burning.
Checks
In the beginning, we’ll check once a day on the goats and walk the fence line, water the goats, and check their overall wellness. We’ll also check on how the defoliation process is going and let you the customer know how everything is going.
Fencing
We use Premier 1 electric fencing to protect our goats. The fence is used to keep goats in, but more importantly, it keeps predators out. Stray dogs and coyotes are a threat to goats and Premier 1 fencing helps protect them. Our goats are well trained and don’t attempt to go through our fence so rest assured, the fence is used for keeping predators out.
Timeline
Many things can determine how fast goats defoliate, particularly, the weather. If the weather forecast calls for rain during our schedule, expect them to take a little longer. Also, hot weather slows them down but we don’t leave the site until the job is done! Our estimated timeline accounts for both rain and heat but remember, they are animals, so we’re at times subject to their timeline.
